Down Among the Night Things

Rose Fergus

The night is my companion
The full moon guides me down
Dark streets and alleyways
And all around the town

My breath is still, my eyes alight
My soul is dark, and yetÉ
"Hey, come and be my lover, baby
For a time you won't forget"

I want to take you far down
Down among the night things
Where dreaming horrors play
Unimagined by the day

I want to hold you down, far down
Until your breath comes fast
I'll tenderly enfold your soul
And drain you to the last

And when your time is short, my dear
I'll have to make a choice
I wonder if I'll let you wake
And whether you'll rejoice

I want to take you far down
Down among the night things
Where dreaming horrors play
Unimagined by the day
